Wimbledon CEO to step down next year
Richard Lewis, the CEO of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to step down after the 2020 tournament
Richard took up the post in 2012 after having been chair of Sport England and Executive Chairman of the Rugby Football League since 2002. During his tenure he led the AELTC through a period of significant growth resulting in the Championships becoming one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
As a professional tennis player Richard was part of the Davis Cup team that reached the semi-finals in 1981. After finishing his playing career he moved into sports administration joining the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in 1987 rising to become its director of tennis.
