Wimbledon PRSS Cricket - Final Pre-Season Preparations
Pre-Season Preparations in Full Swing
We played the first of our pre-season games last weekend. As is the norm with an 18 game league season ahead, the wife and I tend to try and get away for a week or two, to spend a bit of time together before cricket takes over for the summer but also to get a bit of a head start on the suntan.
The wife and I have a pretty poor record with sunny holidays. Our honeymoon in The Maldives was spent in the middle of three tropical cyclones and true to form as I sit here writing this the weather in London is glorious. Here in “sunny Spain” I am watching it rain with no prospect of any let up until Wednesday next week, by which time we will only have two days left. Shocker!
The season is fast approaching and everything is now in full swing. The lads have ordered their kit, we have repainted the club house and the ground is beginning to look like a cricket pitch again. We have some great new additions and as a club are confident in our ability to push for promotion across all four league sides this season.
There is a real buzz about the club, one that I’ve never really experienced at the club in my previous 4 years and I am excited to see where that takes us. We have a group of players who are not only committed to the club, but more importantly to each other and achieving the best for the benefit of the wider team and club as a whole.
I’ll make the best of the rain here in Spain, probably spent at the driving range. I’d rather get all of the rain out of the way so throughout the whole season rain won’t affect play.
I hope you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend, I’ll update you in a month on the start to our season.
As always I would like to thank the Old Wimbledonians CC sponsors, Tennison Property, Snoggy’s, Woodstock Cricket Co, Wimbledon Cufflink Co and Greene King.
